Ryan Seacrest continues dishing out praise for his soon-to-be Wheel of Fortune co-host, Vanna White.
In an interview with E! News, the TV personality gushed about his upcoming takeover of Pat Sajak‘s post, explaining, “it’s just so exciting to think about being on that set.”
“I’ve watched the show for so many decades,” he added. “I’m a fan of the show, and the game is the star. And of course, being next to Vanna, she’s a legend.”
He continued, “She’s an icon. We spent a little [time] shooting some promos for next season, and she’s just so down to earth. She’s exactly what you would expect.”
White has previously reciprocated the praise for Seacrest, telling People in October that “he’s such a nice guy and he loves what he does.”
Since the news of his new position broke in July, Seacrest has been gearing up to take on Sajak’s role — even going so far as “shouting out the puzzles” from his living room. However, he knows not to mess with the show that has remained a TV staple for decades.
“You don’t mess with it, just don’t mess with it. Just get out of the way, say ‘Good evening’ and let’s play,” he told People back in September.
While it may have felt like a rather quick turn-around between when rumors sparked of Seacrest’s being a potential replacement and him actually being crowned as Sajak’s successor, he revealed to E! News that after he received the position, he “had to keep it a secret for a little bit.”
“And I didn’t even tell my parents, or my sister, or my family until really, the last couple of hours,” he shared.
If you want to tune in for the remaining episodes of Sajak’s final season, Wheel of Fortune airs on weeknights at 7:30/6:30c. Check out their website for your local listings. Watch Seacrest’s interview above.
