Ryan Reynolds has filed for several Wrexham trademarks in an effort to make the Welsh team globally recognized.
“The Adam Project” actor — who purchased the soccer club with fellow actor Rob McElhenney in 2020 — trademarked “Wrexham FC 1864” and “Wrexham is the Name” in the US and UK, while an application for “Welcome to Wrexham” is pending in the US and Canada, online records show.
The holding firm, the R.R. McReynolds Company, requested the rights to market products with the club’s branding, such as clothes, toys, games and athletic gear, as well as to use for “entertainment services.”
The FX docuseries “Welcome to Wrexham” premiered in August, and a second season is in the works.
The A-list co-owners have said their goal is to transform the team into a “global force.”
The Post has reached out to representatives for Wrexham AFC and Reynolds, 46, for comment.
Reynolds is also in a bidding war to purchase the Ottawa Senators NHL team.
“It’s very expensive,” the Vancouver native said in the fall. “I need a partner with, you know, really deep pockets. It’s called a consortium, when you form a group together to buy an entity. It’s a fancy way of saying I need a sugar mommy or sugar daddy.”
And he apparently found one. He has teamed up with Ontario-based real estate development company the Remington Group. They are considered one of the front-runners, with the timeline for sale unclear.
But not everything is strictly business — Reynolds’ ventures are especially appreciated by his wife, the actress Blake Lively, who loves to joke and play pranks, often at her husband’s expense.
In January, the “Gossip Girl” star, 35, claimed that she subscribed to ESPN+ just so she could witness her beau’s “crippling anxiety” during a Wrexham AFC match against Sheffield United, saying it was “worth it.”
In March, she jokingly told a Wrexham fan to “leave” her partner in a viral video captured at a match.
The iconic couple, who tied the knot in 2012, welcomed a fourth child in February, the newest addition to their growing family.
They are already parents to three daughters: James, 8; Inez, 6; and Betty, 3.
