Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert’s ex, Julia Bonilla, who’s pregnant with their second child, shared a message referencing betrayal, lies and pain after their public split in May.
In a post on Instagram Wednesday, Bonilla reminisced on darker times and implied that she’s a single mother to their son, Romeo.
“You were wanted. You were chosen. You were meant to be,” Bonilla wrote, including a snapshot that featured her in a bikini while holding her belly. “I was tested in every way a woman can be tested and still, I chose love. You are proof that even after betrayal, after storms, after pain, life can still grow in light.
“No matter how dark the world tries to be, no matter the lies, the cowardice, no matter how much they tried to break me, you’ll always have a mother who stands unshaken and will protect you forever. Because at the end, it’s always gonna be us, you, your brother, and me.”
Bonilla did not mention Gobert.
Julia and Romeo were at Minnesota’s final regular-season game on April 13.
The news of their split broke in May, when TMZ reported that Gobert allegedly told Bonilla to move out of his home and take their 1-year-old son with her right at the start of the NBA playoffs.
A source told the outlet that “things changed some time after Bonilla revealed she was pregnant with their second child” and that she moved back to her native country of France after the breakup.
Gobert reportedly wanted Bonilla and their son to stay in Minnesota to figure out custody.
At the time, Gobert confirmed their split with TMZ, saying there was “inaccurate information” being spread. He did not explain further details.
Gobert added that he would “keep supporting the well-being of all the people that I care about.”
In a social media post at the time, Bonilla said the situation was “one of the most painful times in my life.”
She also denied cheating on the four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
“I considered Rudy the love of my life,” Bonilla said. “I left everything for him. I gave him a child and poured my heart into our relationship. Despite how I have been treated, I choose to protect his name for the sake of my children.”
