Ross Mathews wouldn’t mind if Drew Barrymore took a day off from her hit daytime talk show to have sex — in fact, he encouraged it on this morning’s episode.
The co-hosting duo, along with Queer Eye‘s Antoni Porowski, discussed the topic of “sex days off” during today’s Drew’s News segment. According to a recent ZipHealth report, giving employees paid days off for sex boosts “productivity and workplace loyalty.”
While Porowski was all for “sex positivity” and “shedding the shame” around sexuality, he didn’t quite understand why anyone would need to disclose the reason behind their day off with their employer.
“Is it necessary to tell your boss that you need a sex day? Why not be like, ‘I just need a me day’?” he wondered. “It’s still honest.”
Mathews then turned to Barrymore, who happens to be a boss herself, and asked what she would do if one of her employees asked for a day off so they could have “24 hours of pure sex.”
“I would say, like, ‘I’m so happy for you,'” Barrymore reluctantly told her co-host, before adding, “But I am very conditioned to, like, you do not miss work. You don’t cause financial distress by missing a day.”
However, Mathews wanted Barrymore — who hasn’t been in a relationship since her 2016 divorce from Will Kopelman — to take the opportunity should she find the right guy.
“You have been very open on this show that it has been years and years and years since you’ve had a day like that. So if you get one, girl, take the day off,” he said. “We will run a repeat!”

Barrymore first opened up about her lackluster sex life in a September 2022 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, during which she weighed in on Andrew Garfield’s decision to abstain from sex and food for months while he was working on n Martin Scorsese’s 2016 film Silence.
“What’s wrong with me that six months doesn’t seem like a very long time? I was like, ‘Yeah so?'” Barrymore said at the time, while Mathews joked, “We buried the lede there, that’s the headline. Drew can go six months, no big deal.”
But Barrymore clarified, “Years.”
