Is the NFL — and Swifties everywhere — ready for it?
During an appearance Wednesday on the “Today” show, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell didn’t do much to quell chatter over the possibility of the newly engaged Taylor Swift performing in the upcoming Super Bowl halftime show.
“We would always love to have Taylor play. She is a special, special talent, and obviously she would be welcome at any time,” Goodell said when asked by co-host Savannah Guthrie if the pop superstar is invited to play at Super Bowl 2026 in Santa Clara, Calif., next February.
When pressed if a performance is “in the works,” Goodell replied, “I can’t tell you anything about that,” before relenting that it’s a “maybe.”
With the start of the 2025 NFL season now just one day away, “Today” co-host Craig Melvin asked when fans can expect a decision about the performer.
“I’m waiting on my friend Jay-Z to be able to help me with that one,” Goodell said, as the rapper’s company, Roc Nation, produces the halftime show.
“It’s in his hands. I’m waiting for the smoke to come out.”
Goodell’s comments come roughly a week after Swift, 35, announced her engagement to star Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
Since revealing their relationship in 2023, the 14-time Grammy winner has been a staple at Kelce’s Chiefs games, including their Super Bowl runs the past two years.
Swift wrapped her blockbuster Eras Tour after a nearly two-year run last December.
The singer, who enjoyed a low-key offseason with Kelce, 35, is now gearing up for the Oct. 3 release of her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” which she announced on her fiancé’s “New Heights” podcast.
Super Bowl 2026 is slated for Sunday, Feb. 8.
Kendrick Lamar, who collaborated with Swift on her 2014 track, “Bad Blood,” performed in last year’s Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans, where the Eagles dominated Kelce’s Chiefs, 40-22.
Philadelphia opens the season Thursday night at home against Dallas.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs will venture to Brazil for their season opener Friday against the Chargers.
Kelce is entering his 13th season in Kansas City.
