Aaron Rodgers was quite vocal Tuesday about leaks being a problem for the Jets organization, saying they are something winning organizations don’t do.
Jets coach Robert Saleh said he did not feel the veteran quarterback was being overly critical of the organization.
“I don’t think it’s an attack on the organization, but I always appreciate Aaron’s thoughts and comments,” Saleh said.
The Athletic reported Monday that Zach Wilson had expressed reluctance about becoming the Jets’ starting quarterback again.
Rodgers said it the report was “chickens–t at its core” and he questioned why someone would leak a story like that.
Saleh said he does not believe leaks are a problem.
“We’ll handle all that stuff internally, but like I said, everyone’s going to have their thoughts, but those are the things we’ll handle internally,” Saleh said.
Rodgers did not practice Wednesday after saying last week he planned on ramping up his workload this week. Do the Jets believe he won’t be back this year now that the team is 4-8?
“I’ll never close the door until the door is closed,” Saleh said.
Saleh addressed the controversy over WFAN host Joe Benigno revealing things that Saleh has texted him.
“As far as Joe B’s concerned, I’m just going to keep all that with myself and just move on from it,” Saleh said.
Does he regret texting with Benigno, a famed Jets fan?
“No, I like Joe B,” he said. “It is what it is, but just moving on.”
The Jets cut QB Tim Boyle on Tuesday to make room to sign QB Brett Rypien.
It was a curious move considering Boyle started the last two weeks for the Jets.
“It is unfortunate the way it has come about,” Saleh said. “I got it, it is part of the crappy part of the league. He got his opportunity, we appreciate him, we are not saying he won’t come back in terms of practice squad and all of that, but appreciate everything he has done.”
RB Breece Hall (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.
Saleh did not mention Hall when he spoke about the players who would not be practicing, so it is unclear how serious the injury is.
WR Jason Brownlee (ankle), DE John Franklin-Myers (ankle) and G Wes Schweitzer (calf) did not practice either. … OT Mekhi Becton (knee), TE Tyler Conklin (hamstring), OT Billy Turner (finger) and LB Quincy Williams (knee) were limited.
