Ex-NFL star Robert Griffin III got into a terrifying car accident on Friday, he revealed on X.
“Just got in the worst car accident of our lives with my wife and kids in Fort Worth, Texas,” Griffin posted. “Scary crash, ricocheted off the highway divider multiple times, blown both front tires. Thankful to God that my wife and kids are safe.”
Griffin, 35, posted images of the wreck, which showed multiple cards badly damaged.
A college football game analyst for Fox, Griffin was in Fort Worth ahead of the TCU-Colorado game on Saturday.
His status for Saturday’s broadcast is unclear.
They were traveling in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter when the accident occurred on a local highway.
Griffin’s wife, Grete, earlier on Friday posted on her Instagram story an image of Griffin inside the Sprinter and shared her excitement that she and the rest of the family were able to travel with him.
Griffin was not driving the Sprinter.
Four cars were involved in the accident, Grete said.
“Got into the worst accident of our lives but thankfully our kids are safe and okay,” Grete posted. “That’s all that matters. Robert and I are a little banged up but nothing a little love won’t fix!”
The couple shares three daughters.
Grete posted a picture of two of the daughters inside an ambulance.
“Got everyone checked out in the ambulance and kiddos are all well and healthy,” she wrote. “I hit my head so will get a CT scan and Robert’s back is also getting checked out.”
Griffin, who was drafted with the No. 2-overall pick by Washington in 2012, won Rookie of the Year and was a starting quarterback for three seasons before injuries derailed his career.
He starred collegiately at Baylor.
“Sending prayers and glad everyone is OK,” the school wrote on X.
He previously worked as an analyst for ESPN.
