Tony Ganios, star of the raunchy cult comedy Porky’s, has died from a sudden heart attack. He was 64.
Ganios’ fiancée, Amanda Serrano-Ganios, confirmed the actor’s unexpected passing to TMZ. Gianos was reportedly taken into the hospital on Saturday (Feb. 17), where they learned he had a “severe” spinal cord injury. He swiftly had surgery but suffered a heart attack the following day.
Serrano-Ganios expressed her disbelief in a post shared on X. “It’s just unreal to me right now. It was so fast. He hadn’t felt well and hid it from me for days. When he finally told me, and was taken to the hospital, his spinal cord was severely infected. They did surgery, next morning, his heart stopped. I’m crushed,” she wrote.
Serrano-Ganios also shared a touching tribute to her late partner, writing, “The last words we said to each other were ‘I love you.’ Love is an understatement. You are everything to me. My heart, my soul and my best friend. #I love you.”
Ganios was best known for his starring as Anthony “Meat” Tuperello in the 1981 sex comedy Porky’s, which follows a group of Florida high school students who try to help their friend lose his virginity but unexpectedly end up on a quest for revenge.

The comedy launched the raunchy Porky’s franchise, including the 1983 entry Porky’s II: The Next Day and Porky’s Revenge, all of which Ganios starred in.
Ganios’ first acting credit was in the 1979 drama The Wanderers, in which he played a member of the Italian street gang from the Bronx. He later starred in The Equalizer, Wiseguy, and Rising Sun.
He also had an appearance in Die Hard 2, in which his character is a killer who gets stabbed in the eye with an icicle by Bruce Willis‘ character.
Rising Sun proved to be the final acting credit of his career. He starred opposite Sean Connery and Wesley Snipes in the 1993 film.
Per TMZ, Ganios reportedly continued working until the final years of his life. His fiancée claimed they were in the process of planning their wedding when he passed away.
