Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Doctor Who alum Simon Fisher-Becker died on Sunday (March 9). He was 63.

His agent Kim Barry confirmed his death in a statement shared with DECIDER. Barry wrote, “I lost not only a client Simon Fisher-Becker, but a close personal friend of 15 years standing.”

“I shall never forget the phone call I made to him when he was offered the part of ‘Dorium’ in Dr Who. He had been a fan of the show since he was a child,” the statement continued.

Barry noted that Fisher-Becker “was also a writer, a raconteur and a great public speaker.”

“He helped me out enormously and was always kind, gracious and interested in everyone,” Barry added. “My condolences go to his Husband Tony, his brother, nieces and nephews and his legion of fans.”

Per the New York Post, Fisher-Becker’s husband Tony first announced his death yesterday via the late actor’s Facebook account, writing that he had “some very sad news” to share.

“At 2:50 this afternoon Simon passed away,” Tony wrote. “I’ll be keeping this account open for a while. I’m not sure at this point if I’ll be posting again. Thank you.”

Fisher-Becker appeared in the first film of the Harry Potter franchise as Hufflepuff ghost Fat Friar, and played Dorium Maldovar in three episodes of Doctor Who that aired across the show’s fifth and sixth seasons, per IMDb.
