Talent manager Matthew Byars, known for his appearances on The Real Housewives of Potomac, died on Thursday (Nov. 21), The U.S. Sun reports. He was 37.

Maryland’s Chief Office of Medical Examiner’s spokesperson confirmed the news to the outlet, sharing that Byars “died of multiple blunt force injuries” and that “the manner was suicide.”

RHOP fans first met Byars in the show’s third season, courtesy of Karen Huger. In 2019, she explained her relationship with Byars to Bravo’s The Daily Dish, saying, “I do have a PR, Matt is not my PR, but I would say that Matt is in a line of my agent, my booking person, and it works for me.”

She added, “I’ve known Matt since he was about 17, 18 years old. I encourage Matt when life is difficult. A lot of people call me ‘Mama Karen’ in Potomac because I love helping young folk. When life was trying to him, I reached out and told him to go to school, and he did, and now we work together.”

Per Us Weekly, among the Bravo stars who have honored Byars since the news broke of his passing are RHOP star Ashley Darby, who encouraged people to reach out to Huger during this time.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey‘s Melissa Gorga also paid tribute to Byars with a video montage on Instagram, writing that she was “heartbroken” by the loss and that her “heart hurts.” Her co-star Rachel Fuda commented, “Such a deep loss. So sorry Melis. May he rest in peace and never be forgotten ❤️.”

Meanwhile, The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Cynthia Bailey lamented that she was “deeply saddened” by the news in an Instagram tribute, and received comments with condolences and support from Crystal Kung Minkoff, Chanel Ayan, and more.
