


Guiding Light and One Life to Live alum Mark Dobies died March 11, TVLine reports. He was 65.
Dobies passed away in Dunellen, New Jersey, per his obituary, though a cause of death was not shared. The news was also shared by former Guiding Light and As the World Turns publicist Alan Locher on his social media pages for his YouTube show, The Locher Room, per Daytime Confidential.
In his post, Locher praised Dobies as “a talented actor with a career that spanned film, television, and theater,” noting that he “was lucky to work with Mark at Guiding Light and always knew him as a genuinely good guy.” Locher also saw Dobies perform in the Off-Broadway revival of The Normal Heart in 2004.
On Locher’s Instagram tribute, Miami Vice alum Saundra Santiago commented, “Oh this is too sad, wow. I really liked him so much! He was the nicest of men & truly talented. WTH! ????”
Dobies’ earliest credits include an episode of Fame L.A. and the 1997 TV movie In My Sister’s Shadow. He went on to make a slew of TV cameos, among which were Just Shoot Me!, Home Improvement, Melrose Place, Everybody Loves Raymond, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Gossip Girl and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Per IMDb, his most recent role was in the 2016 biographical sports drama Greater.

As for his soap opera work, Dobies appeared in 14 episodes of Guiding Light in 2000 as Dr. Noah Chase. Three years later, he would later find work as Daniel Colson on One Life to Live.
Hailing from Scotch Plains, New Jersey, Dobies was born April 3, 1959, per his obituary. He attended Delaware Valley University (which at the time, was named Delaware Valley College) on a football scholarship.
