Garrison Brown, the son of Sister Wives stars Kody Brown and Janelle Brown, has died from an apparent suicide. He was 25.

Janelle announced the sad news in a heartbreaking Instagram post on Tuesday (March 5).

“Kody and I are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our beautiful boy Robert Garrison Brown,” she wrote. “He was a bright spot in the lives of all who knew him. His loss will leave such a big hole in our lives that it takes our breath away. We ask that you please respect our privacy and join us in honoring his memory.”

Flagstaff Police were reportedly met by Garrison’s younger brother Gabriel at a house in Arizona where he was found dead. Law enforcement later told Variety that his death was the “result of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.”

Garrison was only a child when he first began appearing on TLC’s Sister Wives in 2010. The show follows his father’s polygamous lifestyle along with his four wives and their combined 18 children. Kody and Janelle — who also share children Madison, Logan, Gabriel, Hunter and Savanah — announced their separation in December 2022, making her the second wife to leave him after Christine Brown.

“We are devastated to hear of the tragic loss of Garrison Brown,” a spokesperson for TLC said in a statement, per Variety. “We extend our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the Brown family at this difficult time.”

Janelle’s sister wife Meri Brown, who also ended her marriage with Kody the same year, honored Garrison on social media. She reposted Janelle’s message, adding, “Garrison, you are loved and will be missed! ????????.”

Kody’s relationship with his children was strained in more recent years. In a confessional interview, Janelle said Garrison “just seems angry or sadder, like, he’s not as happy-go-lucky as he used to be,” per People. And during a May 2023 episode of Sister Wives, Kody confirmed that he hadn’t been in touch with Garrison and Gabriel for “quite a while.”

Days before his death, Garrison — who joined the National Guard — revealed that he had rescued a cat.

“Newest edition to my home, Ms Buttons,” he wrote on Instagram. “She’s 9 years old and was on the line for euthanasia but my savior complex couldn’t suffice. #crazycatlady.”
