Darren Kent, the actor known for his roles on Game of Thrones and EastEnders, died on Aug. 11. He was 36.
Kent previously suffered from osteoporosis, arthritis and an extremely rare skin disorder, according to The Daily Mail. His agency, Carey Dodd Associates, announced the news of his death on X, formerly known as Twitter, earlier today.
“It is with deep sadness we have to tell you that our dear friend and client Darren Kent passed away peacefully on Friday,” they wrote. “His parents and best friend by his side. Our thoughts and love are with his family in this difficult time. RIP my friend ❤️”
Kent was born and raised in Essex, before going on to star in the 20th Century Fox film Mirrors alongside Kiefer Sutherland and Cameron Boyce. However, most may recognize him for his brief appearance as a Goatherd from Slaver’s Bay in a 2014 episode of Game of Thrones — as well as his two-episode run on EastEnders.
Kent’s film credits include Snow White and the Huntsman (2012), Jeepers Creepers: Reborn (2022), and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023). He most recently starred in the 2023 short Birds Sorrow.
Moreover, Kent — who also worked as a writer and director — won Best Actor at the 2012 Van D’or Awards Ceremony for his role as Danny in Sunnyboy. He also directed the short film, You Know Me, which won Best Director and Best Short Film at the January London International Monthly Film Festival in 2022.
Following news of his death, Kent’s industry peers took to social media to mourn the actor.
“Such sad news, Darren was a lovely guy. My heart goes out to his family,” one wrote, while another added, “Very sad loss. I didn’t get to work with him but everyone who did had wonderful things to say about him.”
“My heart is broken ???????? my long time amazing wonderful great friend Darren Kent has passed away,” a third person said. “My condolences to his family. May he rest in peace. He is one of Gods beautiful Angels. He will be truly missed ????????????❤️.”
Kent’s obituary, which was shared with The Daily Mail by his mother and agency, read, “His indomitable spirit and love of life inspired all he met and he will be remembered not only for his talent, but as a warm and generous friend.”
