Today Show anchor Craig Melvin got called out on his own show when he accidentally yawned on the air.

Melvin was interviewing “Jessie’s Girl” singer Rick Springfield on the 3rd Hour of Today Wednesday when Springfield teased the Today Show anchor for yawning during the interview while he was off-camera.

Springfield was discussing the legacy of his hit single “Jessie’s Girl” when Melvin’s yawn distracted him from what he was saying.

“You can’t really plan anything like that and you can’t really foresee anything like that. It just happened,” he responded, before suddenly asking Melvin, “Am I boring you?”

Springfield’s bold question sent Melvin, as well as Today Show anchors Al Roker, and Jill Martin, into a fit of laughter.

“Not at all, Rick,” Melvin responded. “I apologize.” He appeared to be coughing as he clarified to Springfield that it wasn’t a yawn, “It was a cough.”

The singer continued teasing Melvin. “It’s early, don’t worry about it, I’ll yawn too,” Springfield joked.

The moment left Martin and Roker covering their faces as Melvin tried to defend himself.

But Springfield remained in good spirits for the remainder of the interview as he discussed his upcoming tour, the “I Want My ’80s Tour,” as well as his time starring in Ryan Murphy‘s new legal drama All’s Fair alongside Kim Kardashian, Glenn Close, Niecy Nash-Betts, and more.

“It’s a lot of estrogen,” he joked.

He also revealed that he had to remain professional while working with Naomi Watts, who he described to be one of his favorite actors. He compared the experience to meeting Meryl Streep.

“I was very professional with her,” he said on Today. “Like with Meryl Streep, you’ve got to get over that thing: ‘Oh my God, it’s you!’”
