Brynn Whitfield is treading on thin ice following Sunday night’s (Aug. 20) episode of The Real Housewives of New York City. The reality star — who showed up to Erin Lichy‘s anniversary party stoned and made a pass at her co-star’s husband — received mixed reviews from fans following the controversial scene.
It all started when Whitfield walked in wearing all white — fur coat included — and a pair of dark shades to Lichy’s event, where she was renewing her vows with her husband, Abe. Why the dark shades at an indoor party that took place at night, you ask? Well, the newbie RHONY star admitted that she was “flying high” and that her eyes were “bloodshot,” if you know what I mean.
“I think I’m a little bored. How do I like to entertain myself?” she asked in her confessional at one point. “Bitching.”
Whitfield certainly wasted no time as she hit on Lichy’s brother and her father, before joking that she wants to become her pal’s stepmom. Eventually, Whitfield’s flirtations made their way to Lichy’s husband, who was prepping to recite his vows.
“Once you’re ready to get a divorce, I’m single. We’re just gonna do a swap,” Whitfield quipped. “Whatever you do, don’t mess up and say, ‘I, Abe, take you, Brynn.'”
The star later cleared up on her Instagram Story that her comment was a reference to Season 4 of Friends when Ross (David Schwimmer) accidentally says Rachel’s (Jennifer Aniston) name at the altar instead of the woman he’s marrying. Still, many fans were not feeling the Bravolebrity’s most recent whims — and, according to a teaser for next week, neither is Lichy.
“I understand everyone wants to love Brynn… but she was rude and the shit she said to Erin’s husband joke or not was not funny,” one wrote, while another added, “Brynn is usually my fave but she was being so unnecessarily annoying at Erin’s event.”
“I know you all like Brynn, but her coming on to people’s husbands and father is gross,” a third person chimed in. “I get that she had a rough childhood and is desperate for attention, but I’m sorry, friend’s husbands (or anyone’s for that matter) are off limits. Get some dignity girl.”
However, just as many Brynn stans were there to praise the former PR consultant for delivering just what we needed out of a Housewives franchise.
“Brynn arriving to Erin’s party high and looking like Meredith Blake/Cruella de Vil is everything,” one wrote, while another echoed, “Brynn coming to Erin’s party stoned as hell is such a mood.”
“Brynn coming in all white stoned out of her ass with a fur coat and refusing to take off her sunglasses at a night event indoor is the level of ratchet I want to be seeing on Housewives,” a third social media user added. “Love that bitch so much.”
Someone else posted, “I didn’t think for a second that Brynn wanted Abe lol Brynn already made it clear she doesn’t do married m*n so it was honestly just funny to me when she was ‘flirting’ with Abe and she literally said she wanted to be Erin’s step mother like it wasn’t that serious lol.”
“Brynn wearing white, hitting on her husband, and talking about marrying Erin’s Dad and making her call her Mommy is such top tier housewife behavior,” another joked.
It looks like we’ll just have to see how it all plays out when new episodes of The Real Housewives of New York City air on Sunday nights at 9/8c on Bravo — and are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
