The photo attached to the post also shows that part of the dress code is written on the door windows, and it’s also written in all caps on the homepage of the restaurant’s website.

The strict dress code quickly garnered a lot of attention, with 12,000 reactions, 9,900 comments and 4,000 shares.

Many commenters shared gifs of the Hulu show “The Handmaid’s Tale,” comparing the rules to Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel.

“I’d literally have to buy clothes to go to your business,” one person joked.

“I done got kicked out before I even got there,” another said.

“This is geared towards women mostly…someone’s mate must have a wandering eye and/or hand. Ok, BYE!” one comment read.

“Should I just show up naked instead?” someone quipped.

“It’s summer and you don’t allow shorts or white tee shirts? Ha Good luck,” another pointed out.

The Post has reached out to Kim’s Kafe for comment.

Attorney David Daggett addressed the situation, telling WCNC Charlotte that the rules are legal “as long as it’s not discriminatory” and it’s the same for all patrons.

“The example I’ve used before when my kids asked me about this is, I don’t like people who wear blue shirts. If I don’t want people in my business that wear blue shirts, I can do that as long as I’m refusing everybody with blue shirts, not selecting people based on a discriminatory basis,” Daggett explained.
