Police in Maine are searching for a gunman involved in two active shooter events Wednesday.

Maine State Police said the armed suspect is believed to be in Lewiston, where the shootings occurred, and advised local residents and businesses to lock their doors and shelter in place.

State authorities did not provide details on the shootings and possible victims, but the Androscoggin Sheriff’s Office shared two images of the suspect carrying a rifle.

Lewiston is about 36 miles north of Portland.
