In Season 4 of Resident Alien, alien Harry Vanderspeigle (Alan Tudyk) has been transformed into the unthinkable — a human. After three seasons of learning to appreciate human customs and relationships, he finds out that the evil alien Greys who imprisoned him during the season premiere stole his powers. Harry’s newfound humanness changes him on a fundamental level: he feels fear more strongly and suddenly despises the taste of milk, as any self-respecting human does. Last week’s episode delivered another extraterrestrial twist: Heather (Edi Patterson), Harry’s scorned ex who betrayed him in fear of the half-Grey alien Joseph (Enver Gjokaj), is back. After Heather kills the Mantid who has been hunting Harry, we learn that she has given birth, and Harry, you are the father.

In this exclusive clip from Friday’s hot new episode, Heather reunites with Harry. Tweeting baby bird sounds accompany a shot of a seemingly empty nest as Heather introduces Harry to his babies. After the warm introduction, Harry’s voice-over comments on something curious: “Something feels different about my Heather.”

Heather acknowledges the discomfort, but she expresses that Harry will be a great father and that she’s thought about him every day since their breakup. Harry says he’s thought about her too, but his voice-over chimes in again: “I still love her as much as before, but something is missing.” He isn’t sure what it is, but when Heather apologizes and leans in for a kiss, he suddenly understands: “Now that I am human, I find her face repulsive.” Harry squirms around and gags, dodging Heather’s revolting bird-like face.

Not noticing Harry’s disgust, Heather tells him that Joseph threatened her family. She didn’t know what to do, but she now knows that she can’t keep running. Still shaken, Harry thinks to himself that Heather looks “like a haunted piece of taxidermy.” He tells her that Joseph is no longer a problem. He lost an arm, he doesn’t work for the Greys anymore, and he’s ugly — “Unlike you, who is the opposite of ugly.” Harry grimaces and thinks, “Is there also a smell?”

Heather swears that she’ll never leave Harry again, and that he’s “the most wonderful, beautiful being [she’s] ever met.” Harry calls her beautiful too, forcing the words out in a way that just looks painful, and says that he loves her gross bulging eyes: “Like a fish, but a bird.” Swoon!

Heather leans in for another kiss, but Harry quickly pulls back and comments on her gamey breath. “You know what? That’s Mantid,” Heather laughs. She gives Harry a recap: she killed a Mantid, ate his guts, and is still waiting on a thank you from Asta (Sara Tomko) for saving her life. Harry is elated — until Heather pulls out some slimy green Mantid guts she saved for Harry to enjoy. Harry gags once, then twice, then turns his gagging into a squeezed-out “Yum!” and almost crying as he turns the guts down. Nonchalant, Heather puts the guts in her fanny pack “for safe keeping.” Horrified, Harry exclaims, “Are you serious?!”

Will love prevail between Harry and Heather? Tune in to Resident Alien this Friday (6/27) at 11 p.m. ET/PT to find out!
