


Roderick Arias, the 19-year-old shortstop prospect who spent last year at the Florida Complex League, picked up his first hit in major league camp against the Phillies. Arias was signed in 2022 out of the Dominican Republic for $4 million.
Cody Morris, the 27-year-old right-hander the Yankees picked up from Cleveland in exchange for former prospect Estevan Florial in the offseason, gave up two runs in the ninth against Baltimore and has allowed seven runs in 3 ¹/₃ innings in two outings this spring.

In the minutes after the news broke that the Philadelphia Eagles had signed Saquon Barkley away from the Giants, “E-A-G-L-E-S” chants were heard from fans in the middle of the Yankees game against the Phillies.
Evidently, no one wants to face the Blue Jays. Luke Weaver was slated to take Gerrit Cole’s spot in the rotation in Dunedin, Fla., at 1:07 p.m., while the Yankees await word on the MRI results of their ace’s elbow, but Weaver was scratched with a stiff neck. He’ll be replaced by Dennis Santana.
