It’s the battle of the Sox on Friday night as Boston travels to the Windy City.
On paper, this should be a pretty good pitching matchup between the Red Sox’s Brayan Bello (4-4, 3.49 ERA) and the White Sox’s Lucas Giolito (5-4, 3.54 ERA).
Despite owning a combined 9-8 record, both pitchers have performed better than those marks with ERAs sitting around 3.50.
Bello has allowed two earned runs or fewer in eight of his past nine starts.
In his past two outings, both against the Yankees, the righty gave up just seven hits and three runs over 14 innings.
Giolito has been the topic of trade rumors, and it makes sense why a contender would be interested in him.
He has given up three runs or fewer in 11 of 15 starts and has pitched at least six innings 10 times.
Giolito hasn’t gotten a lot of help from his offense, though.
The White Sox have scored three runs or fewer in eight of his starts.
Both pitchers have suffered from lack of run support at times, but the Red Sox have won seven times with Bello on the mound.
I really like the way he’s looked of late, and with Boston playing much better recently, I’ll side with the Red Sox to get the win on the road.
