NextImg:Red Sox fan somehow makes miraculous foul-ball catch with his food in wild scene

The sandwich possibilities are endless at a deli, but what about at a baseball game?

During the Red Sox’s win Thursday over the Blue Jays, a fan created a never-before-seen baseball sandwich when he made a miraculous foul-ball catch using nothing but a bun.

The fan didn’t seem to mind as he triumphantly raised his new baseball sandwich to the world, all while chewing what he had previously bitten just moments before his meal became ruined.

Considering what Boston is known for and the sheer size of the massive bun, the fan was likely chowing down on a lobster or crab roll before Toronto’s Bo Bichette’s foul ball crashed the party.

With the market on lobster rolls, that foul ball may have cost him a pretty penny in wasted food, too.

The fan was sitting about 10 rows up down the first-base line, representing his Boston fandom proudly with a jersey.

The viral moment and the souvenir ball that came with it weren’t the only things to celebrate for the Red Sox fan, as Boston notched a wacky 4-3 walk-off win in 10 innings.

The Red Sox trailed the Blue Jays, 2-1, entering the bottom of the eighth inning before Rob Refsnyder scored on a wild pitch to tie things up.

Things stayed level from there until extra innings when Toronto’s George Springer scored Andres Gimenez with a sacrifice fly.

Down one run, Jarren Duran singled to tie the game.

With one out and the bases loaded, Trevor Story hit a soft dribbler to Gimenez at second base. Gimenez bobbled the ball and David Hamilton scored the game-winning run.

The fans at Fenway Park erupted — some likely with full stomachs after having uninterrupted meals. But one fan celebrated with a souvenir baseball and a ravaged lobster roll.
