The Red Bulls have turned to the Bundesliga again, this time to bolster their playing roster.

Two days after hiring former Hertha Berlin manager Sandro Schwarz as their new head coach, the Red Bulls on Saturday announced the transfer acquisition of RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Emil Forsberg.

The 32-year-old Forsberg has been with Leipzig since 2015, making 323 appearances and winning two German Cups with the side over nine seasons.

Known for his creativity and ability to create scoring chances, Forsberg also has earned 86 caps with the Swedish national team, including a quarterfinal run at the 2018 World Cup.

His 22 assists for Leipzig across all competitions in 2016 mark the third-highest single-season total in Bundesliga history.

The Red Bulls made the playoffs and won a wild-card match over Charlotte before losing to Cincinnati in the first round of the MLS playoffs.
