Welcome to the real world!
A disappointed college graduate was left baffled after claiming she was hired then fired after just six days at her first full-time job out of school.
Tennessee content creator Sierra Desiray Frederick, 22, said she had “been there for five days” before being let go — arguing her new co-workers “didn’t know how to train me,” she shared on TikTok.
The 22-year-old gave a story time to viewers about her experience working for her new graphic design job at a firm that does print work for a local grocery chain in Tennessee.
“So, I got a job for this company in Henderson, Tenn., and they do all the print for Aldis. Super excited that I’m going to be doing graphic design stuff — that’s what my major was in,” Frederick starts out in the video that’s been viewed over 383,000 views.
“I had five days of training at this job, five shifts at this job. In those five shifts I spent [probably 3 or four of those five] days doing nothing,” she continues.
As Frederick goes on, she says there were two other people on her team that “didn’t know how to train me” and barely gave the young graphic designer any work to do.
“Everyday it was like, ‘Oh, I don’t know what to give you to do today, oh, I don’t know what to show you today,’ ” Frederick said in her best impersonation of the two trainers.
“Yesterday, I walked in, and they made me watch videos that I’ve already watched on things they’ve already trained me on for about three hours,” she added.
Frederick said one day she felt totally “useless” after spending most of the day staring at her computer dong nothing and not being trained on anything new.
At that point, the college graduate grew weary and informed her boyfriend she was going to take up the issue and her role with the CEO of the company.
But the next day, Frederick went in to work expecting it to be the typical boring shift she worked the five days until she saw the CEO at her desk.
“Our CEO is standing there with an envelope in his hand, just a little envelope, and he looks at me — there’s people in this room, a full room of people — hands it to me and says ‘we’re letting you go Sierra.’ “
“I said, umm, okay, I’ve been there for five days, I learned literally nothing!” Frederick screamed in the video.
Frederick claimed the CEO told her “you’re not working out” and said the company was going to continue their search for another candidate.
“Thanks for coming in” were the last words Frederick said she heard from the CEO before he walked away.
Viewers rushed to the comment section to come to Frederick’s defense, telling her she wasn’t in the wrong at all to feel how she felt at a job that practically failed her.
“Not having an onboarding process/schedule is now a red flag for me. If I don’t get a schedule for first week, I know you’re a mismanaged business ????,” one replier said.
“Most jobs training today is: Figure it out yourself. It’s amazing. 30 years ago we had trainers,” a commenter wrote.
“Literally every job these days wants you to be pre-trained with 5 years of experience- design jobs particularly. I started a new job 4 months ago,” another viewer vouched.
