The trailer for Prime Video‘s upcoming adaptation of Red, White & Royal Blue dropped last week, sending fans of the popular rom-com novel into a frenzy after finally getting a taste of their favorite characters (and the book’s infamous first kiss!) in live-action.
The film is set to star Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine as protagonists Alex and Henry. Alex’s mom is the first female president of the United States (Uma Thurman in the movie), while Henry is the third-youngest grandson to the Queen of England (changed to the King in the film adaptation).
When an encounter between the two involving a very large wedding cake turns into an international incident, they’re forced into a friendship staged for the cameras, but… this is a romance novel, after all.
What starts as a fake friendship turns real, and soon, the two find themselves hiding their romance from the entire world.
The Prime Video original movie is set to be released on August 11, so you still have some time to read the novel if you’re a “read it before you see it” kind of person, and the library holds list is months-long thanks to a spike in popularity, you can read it right now for $0 as part of a Prime Day deal. That’s right — free!
Red, White & Royal Blue is currently part of Kindle Unlimited‘s catalog, and for just a few more days, you can get an extended free trial of Kindle Unlimited. Instead of the typical one month free, you’ll get three months free. That’s $36 in savings over the trial period, and in that time, you can read a, well, unlimited amount of books.

If you find yourself done reading Red, White & Royal Blue and wanting to explore more of KU’s offerings, you’ll be happy to know that Casey McQuiston has written two more LGBTQ+ rom-coms and both of those are included with Kindle Unlimited right now.
One Last Stop, McQuiston’s second new adult novel after Red, White & Royal Blue, follows August, a new New Yorker who meets a pretty girl on the subway only to find out that Jane is literally displaced in time from the 1970s and it’s up to August to save her if she wants to know Jane outside of the confines of the Q.

McQuiston’s third novel, and first in the young adult genre, is I Kissed Shara Wheeler. Chloe wants to be valedictorian of the senior class at her private Christian high school, and the only thing standing in her way is prom queen Shara. A month before graduation, Shara kisses Chloe and then vanishes, leaving behind a trail of clues for Chloe and the two others she kissed before disappearing. It’s up to this unlikely alliance to find her.
Like Red, White & Royal Blue, One Last Stop, and I Kissed Shara Wheeler became instant bestsellers upon release.
Red, White & Royal Blue premieres Friday, August 11, exclusively on Prime Video.
Prime Video is included with an Amazon Prime Membership ($15/month). Learn more here.
