If the Rays are ever in need of an infielder, an unsuspected option showed itself on Saturday.
The team’s ball boy delivered a contract-worthy dive that was more impressive than most ball boy and ball girl efforts seen throughout each season.
During the seventh inning against the Blue Jays, Toronto outfielder George Springer hit a line drive foul down the right field line that the ball boy went all-out for, hustling from his seat to make a diving, cross-body snag.
The dive received cheers and applause from the crowd at at Tropicana Field
“It doesn’t get any better,” one of the announcers said. “I mean, late jump. But, how about the extension? The dive. The backhand.”
“Sign him up, right now,” the other chimed in.
The ball boy certainly cemented himself on the good side of the ball boy highlights throughout each season.

It was one of the few positive notes of the Saturday game, as the Rays went on to lose to the Blue Jays 9-2 in the final game of the four-game series in which the teams split two games apiece.
