WASHINGTON — A staffer for far-left Rep. Rashida Tlaib popped open an umbrella — despite clear and sunny skies — Thursday to shield the “Squad” member from questions about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s possible speech before Congress.

The Jew-bashing congresswoman (D-Mich.) and her aides were approached outside the Capitol by Fox News producer Chad Pergram, who inquired about House Speaker Mike Johnson’s plans to invite the Israeli leader to address lawmakers.

“What happens if Netanyahu comes to speak?” Pergram began — as a tall male aide to the Palestinian-American member opened a large blue and white umbrella to block his path.

Pergram walked around the umbrella and asked: “Ms. Tlaib, what happens if Netanyahu comes to speak? Is that a mistake by the speaker to extend this request?”

When Tlaib did not immediately respond, Pergram continued: “What do you think if the Democratic leaders agree to that request as well? Would you attend? Would you protest in any form?”

The staffer then repositioned the umbrella to block Fox’s camera as the congresswoman replied: “I don’t know. Inviting a war criminal to Congress is a sham — it’s shameful.”

A TV crew member could be heard telling Tlaib’s aide that “you hit me with an umbrella.”

“I did not hit you with an umbrella,” the man replied.

The use of umbrellas to obscure cameras has been deployed at many recent protests, including anti-Israel demonstrations on college campuses.

Johnson (R-La.) has not yet formally invited Netanyahu to address Congress, but he would do so as powerful Democrats in Washington grow more critical of the Israeli leader’s management of the invasion of the Gaza Strip.

President Biden this month paused shipments of 2,000-pound and 500-pound bombs to Israel to deter Netanyahu from launching an offensive against the city of Rafah, the final major bastion of Hamas control, over concern about the fate of more than 1 million Palestinians believed to be residing in the areas.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who like Biden was a strong advocate for Israel shortly after Hamas terrorists murdered about 1,200 people on Oct. 7, sparking the war, also has grown critical of Netanyahu — going so far as to call in March for new elections in Israel.

Johnson’s possible invitation comes amid a pending arrest warrant application against Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes, which was filed Monday by International Criminal Court chief prosecutor Karim Khan.
