NextImg:Rare Hawaii home with private beach lists for first time in 17 years for $39.5M

A sprawling beachfront home on the Hawaiian island of Maui has listed for $39.5 million.

Private beachfront properties in the state are rare — and deep-pocketed figures, such as Jeff Bezos, are buying up land on the island as well.

And the price of this home, in Kihei, marks the second most expensive property on the island.

Considered one of the best available beachfront properties in the state, the home was custom-built and sits 16 feet above the beach.

“This elevation both enhances privacy and maximizes the ocean views which can be seen from almost every single room in the home,” the listing notes.

The current owners shelled out $7 million for the home back in 2006; this will be the first time the property has hit the market since.

Known as Hale Palau’ea, the home offers 120 feet of direct direct beach frontage to the white sands of Palau’ea Beach — and occupies 4,800 square feet.

Made up of four bedrooms and five baths, tropical gardens surround the home for privacy.

The home occupies over 4,800 square feet.

Interiors boast 180-degree panoramic ocean views.

Features include custom finishes, such as a carved Mahogany front door with an outrigger canoe and oarsmen theme, Hawaiian maiden newel posts carved from walnut and a hand-shaped mahogany stairway railing with leaf design balusters.

“Wood is a key element in this property,” the listing notes.

Nearby are all of Wailea’s many resort amenities including the beaches on Maui, designer shopping opportunities, world-class restaurants, three championship golf courses, and miles and miles of ocean recreation, the listing adds.

“An epic opportunity like this comes across only once in a lifetime.”

Dano Sayles and Anthony Sayles with Coldwell Banker Island Properties holds the listing.

The median price of a single-family home topped $1 million in most areas of Hawaii during the coronavirus pandemic and has declined only modestly since.

Prices on prime real estate have soared in the last decade overall.
