Rapper Sexyy Red was arrested over the weekend after being involved in a caught-on-camera brawl at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey.
Red, a 26-year-old native of St. Louis whose real name is Janae Nierah Wherry, burst into the middle of a fight in front of a terminal gate early Saturday — with surveillance video obtained by TMZ showing her wielding a metal stanchion, which she held aloft as if ready to strike.
But Red — known for having her hit “Pound Town” famously remixed by Nicki Minaj — was quickly knocked over during the scrum, and the pole fell to the ground, the video shows.
Members of her entourage continued to scuffle with whoever they were fighting with, punching and kicking opponents over some unknown slight.
Airport security tried desperately to end the brawl and calm the parities. But the rapper charged back out into the fray at least two more times when the quarrel sparked back up, footage shows.
Despite her persistence, it doesn’t seem like she actually hit anyone.
Eventually, the cops came, and she was cuffed and hauled off to jail, TMZ said.
She was charged with disorderly conduct, said the Port Authority of New Jersey and New York, which runs the airport, to the outlet.
Other combatants got booked on assault charges. Some people were brought to the hospital for minor injuries, TMZ added.
Later on social media, Sexyy Red said she “just got out” and offered to replace the phone of one of the people she fought with.
