NextImg:Rangers vs. Diamondbacks prediction: World Series Game 1 pick, odds

The World Series matchup between the Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks isn’t one that was predicted by many heading into the postseason.

But these two wild-card teams won Games 7s on the road in their respective championship series to advance to the Fall Classic with Game 1 on Friday in Arlington, Texas.

The Rangers are in an unfamiliar spot by starting a postseason series at home after beginning their first three playoff series on the road.

Texas owns a perfect 8-0 away record in the playoffs, compared to a 1-3 mark at Globe Life Field.

Arizona is used to being a road warrior in these playoffs, as the D’backs won twice each at Milwaukee, Los Angeles and Philadelphia.

Also, their pitching stepped up in the NLCS — after allowing 15 runs in the first two games, they yielded just 16 runs in the final five games.

Zac Gallen gets the start for Arizona in Game 1.

His name was very active in the NL Cy Young conversation for most of the season as he won 17 games and struck out 220.

However, he struggled in the NLCS against Philadelphia by allowing nine runs in 11 innings.

That was preceded by a less-than-stellar final month of the regular season that essentially took him out of the Cy Young race (FanDuel currently has him listed fifth at 110/1).

However, Gallen saw success against Texas this season by yielding only four runs in 11 innings, while striking out 17 as Arizona split his two starts.

Nathan Eovaldi is unbeaten in the postseason for the Rangers in four starts, but three of those wins came in the underdog role.

Eovaldi is making his second home start of the playoffs as he shut down the Orioles in Game 3 of the ALDS.

Both teams are riding plenty of momentum by rallying from 3-2 deficits in the LCS, but Gallen should get back on track here as a nice underdog in Game 1 of the World Series for the Diamondbacks.

The play: Diamondbacks +140.
