The Rangers look like a scoring machine.
After hanging six goals through two periods on the Penguins Saturday night, the Blueshirts needed just 13:36 of the opening frame to do the same to the Predators on Sunday at Madison Square Garden.
Their six goals tied the franchise record for the most tallies in a first period.
The last time the Rangers did that was Dec. 15, 1999 against the Kings.
Perhaps the most impressive part of the scoring onslaught was the fact that it was six goals on six consecutive shots.
Filip Chytil got the party started by snapping an 18-game scoring drought just over two and a half minutes into the game.
Skating down the middle and then undressing Predators defenseman Dante Fabbro, Chytil scored his first goal since Feb. 8.
Mika Zibanejad and Tyler Motte each recorded one-timers to inflate the Rangers’ lead to 2-0 and 3-0, respectively.
During four-on-four play later in the period, K’Andre Miller scored the first of his two goals.
Taking a feed from Vincent Trocheck, the Rangers defenseman buried the puck on the two-on-one rush.
Artemi Panarin chipped in on the power play for the 5-0 score, too.
Miller also made it a 6-0 game, netting a shot from long range.
He notched two assists in addition to his two goals, which made Miller the first defenseman in Rangers history to record four points in a single period.
In the second period, the Rangers added a Chris Kreider goal to make it 7-0.
