The Rangers will need at least one more game to secure a conference finals berth.

After the Blueshirts fought back to tie the game at three in the final period, Carolina ultimately got the winner, beating the Rangers 4-3 in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals in Raleigh, N.C. on old friend Brady Skjei’s game-winner to send the series back to New York.

Carolina had taken an early 3-1 lead, but goals from Barclay Woodrow and Alexis Lafreniere pulled the Rangers back into a tie game.

Finally, though, at the 17th time of asking in the series the Hurricanes solved the Rangers’ penalty kill.

Skjei, a former Ranger, guided a shot through traffic for the winner with just over three minutes to go.
