The Battle of New York is retaking the outdoor stage… in New Jersey.
According to multiple reports on Tuesday, the Rangers and Islanders are slated to compete in the 2024 Stadium Series at MetLife Stadium next season.
It is expected to be one of two hockey games hosted at the home of the Jets and Giants, with the other one being between the Devils and Flyers.
The expectation is that the two contests will be on back-to-back days in February 2024.
The last time the Rangers competed in the Stadium Series was in 2014, when the club played against the Devils and Islanders at Yankee Stadium on Jan. 26 and 29, respectively.
The Rangers won both games.
The Rangers, who are 4-0 in outdoor games (2-0 in Winter Classic), cannot be the home team in the Stadium Series due to their lease agreement with Madison Square Garden.
The Islanders will be considered the home team.
