The Rangers continue to reshape their defense. 

Urho Vaakanainen signed a two-year contract extension with the Blueshirts, the team announced Friday ahead of the trade deadline.

The deal carries an average annual value of $1.55 million, per source. 

Acquired on Dec. 6 in the deal that sent former captain Jacob Trouba to Anaheim, the Finn has been steady on the Rangers backend.

He has two goals and seven assists in 30 games with the Rangers.
