A Brooklyn woman claims she was sexually assaulted by a substitute physical therapist — and claims in a lawsuit that he was chosen “randomly,” without a background check.
The victim arrived for her regular appointment at Health SOS Physical & Occupational Therapy’s Park Slope location with her child in tow in September 2022, only to find she’d be meeting with a man, instead of a female therapist, she said in court papers.
During her treatment, the substitute, identified as John Moore, groped her breasts, tried to reach into her underwear and moved her leg to touch his crotch — all while her child waited in the lobby, she claimed.
When she tried to scramble out of the room, Moore, 46, asked if she wanted to continue the “service” at her home, according to the Manhattan Supreme Court court documents.
Moore, also of Brooklyn, was arrested and charged with forcible touching and sexual abuse, police said.
He pleaded guilty to the top count of forcible touching, completed three months of programming and the charge was reduced to disorderly conduct, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.
The physical therapy office claimed it had no records on Moore, calling him a “substitute” and saying he’d been “randomly selected from a hospital,” according to the court documents.
The accuser is seeking unspecified damages.
Health SOS and Moore did not respond to requests for comment.
