The Rams are hitting the gas pedal just in time to further muddle the chaotic NFC playoff picture.

They have taken four of their last five games and have posted 28-or-more points in four consecutive outings. 

It’s not the same product that won a Super Bowl two years ago, but the offense is making enough noise to win in what has become a weekly shootout.

This production is spearheaded by Matthew Stafford’s recaptured groove.

The last four weeks have all featured passer ratings above 100 along with three 250+ yard performances. 

Aside from the emergence of rookie Puka Nucua, who still leads the team in yardage and ranks top 10 among wide receivers in target share, Cooper Kupp is reshaping into form. 

Kupp has posted back-to-back 100+ yard games along with touchdowns in three straight weeks.

And don’t forget Kyren Williams, whose 95.3 yards per game rushing are the most in the NFL.

The Saints head into Thursday evening’s kickoff as a fellow team walking the 7-7 balance beam.

They’re hot off a pair of wins, but that was against the weaker offensive likes of the Giants and Panthers.

At its peak, the connection between the former Super Bowl MVP and Stafford was impervious to any coverage against it, so the positive regression in Kupp’s numbers is a promising propeller to this booming offense.  

Lest we forget the breakthrough of Kyren Williams, who has become one of the game’s most consistent and durable feature backs.

Williams leads the NFL in snap share and his 95.3 yards per game perches him as No. 3 at the running back position. 

New Orleans fields sturdy defensive numbers — surrendering 19 points per game.

You might think that gives an edge on a more generous Los Angeles front that gives up over 22, which is above the league average.

But Derek Carr has struggled in converting against defenses that allow more than 21 points in his career at 35-57-3 ATS in his career.

He is the least profitable quarterback in this spot over the last 20 years. 

Dennis Allen has struggled to prepare his teams successfully on short rest in his head-coaching career (2-7 ATS). 

The Saints’ offense has been a fragile operation with Carr. I don’t see it mustering enough magic to keep pace with Stafford’s scoreboard swagger.
