NextImg:Raiders vs. Lions prediction: ‘Monday Night Football’ odds, pick

In a Monday night showdown against the Las Vegas Raiders, the Detroit Lions return home with the goal of putting last week’s 38-6 rout at the hands of the Ravens behind them.

Detroit was the early talk of the NFL season by winning at Kansas City in the season opener and starting 5-1.

However, the Lions ran into a Baltimore buzzsaw in Week 8, falling behind 35-0 after three quarters and scoring a meaningless touchdown in the fourth.

The Raiders are back on the road against another NFC North squad for a second straight week after getting blown out at Chicago, 30-12, as three-point favorites.

Las Vegas turned to backup quarterbacks Brian Hoyer and Aidan O’Connell in place of the injured Jimmy Garoppolo, but the Silver and Black didn’t reach the end zone until the final two minutes of the game.

Garoppolo is expected to return on Monday night for a Raiders team looking for its first road win since squeezing past the Broncos, 17-16, in Week 1.

Las Vegas’ offense hasn’t traveled well this season, scoring 10, 17 and 12 points in its last three away games – all losses.

The Raiders go from a field-goal favorite last week to an underdog by more than a touchdown this week, which is good value, even against this solid Lions’ team.

The expectation is Detroit will be motivated after a poor showing at Baltimore, but Las Vegas is also looking to get on track.

Let’s back the road team with the points and take the Raiders on Monday night.
