Chandler Jones has been placed on the non-football illness list by the Raiders as he deals with personal issues, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Jones will be out indefinitely, according to Rapoport.
The Raiders defensive end has been inactive for the first two weeks of the season, and he has not practiced this month.
The roster move comes after Jones wrote a series of bizarre social media posts that went after Raiders owner Mark Davis, general manager Dave Ziegler and head coach Josh McDaniels.
The organization has continued to label the situation a personal matter, and McDaniels refused to go into any detail when asked by reporters earlier on Wednesday if there was any resolution with Jones forthcoming.
“Again, there’s nothing,” McDaniels said, according to ESPN. “I can’t do anything about it at this point. So, we’re just respecting that process and understand the situation, and that’s really all I can say about it.”
Jones’ social media posts began over Labor Day weekend when he ranted on his Instagram story against Ziegler and McDaniels as he claimed he had been barred from the Raiders’ facility.
The posts were eventually deleted, but among the complaints was that the team had been in contact with one of his children’s mother, whom he said he’s not in a relationship with anymore, and he claimed that “they won’t let me in the building.”
“F–k it, I don’t want to play for the Raiders if that’s my [head coach] or [general manager],” another post read.
Things took an even weirder twist this past weekend after he claimed he was hacked following a string of posts on X, formerly Twitter, that had accused the Raiders of keeping him away from the team because a family friend’s daughter was being abused and that the team was trying to keep it quiet.
“Sorry for the mix up. I was hacked. Please forgive me,” Jones posted on Monday.
Jones is in the second year of a three-year deal with Las Vegas.
He had 4.5 sacks last year.
