Quinta Brunson got an extra special surprise on Live with Kelly and Mark this morning.
As the Abbott Elementary creator and star greeted fans in the studio audience on her way to join Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, she seemingly recognized some people, who she eventually identified as some of her family members.
After taking a seat, she told Ripa and Consuelos that she had family present, just prior to noticing even more family members of hers on the other side of the audience.
“Oh my God!” she screamed. “Wow.”
As the camera panned to Brunson’s relatives, Ripa and Consuelos asked who was in attendance.
“That’s my literal, like, family,” she shared. “My sisters, and my niece, and my cousin. I don’t want to cry on TV. That’s so crazy.”
She continued, “And then family back there. I saw them first.”
Consuelos chimed in, “You’re a Philly girl. Did they come up from Philly?”
Brunson confirmed that “they did,” revealing that she “didn’t know that” they were planning to come ahead of time.

Ripa, who was just as surprised as Brunson, replied, “Oh, they didn’t tell you?”
Brunson added, “No. I’m surprised… I’m OK though.”
Ripa asked, “Wait, should we get extra chairs here?”
As Ripa urged Brunson not to cry, Brunson teased, “I’m always just crying on TV. I’m so tired of it.”
She then took another scan of the audience to “make sure nobody else” was there, joking that her “grandfather” could be there.
Ripa quipped, “Let’s bring out the rest of Quinta’s family. Wouldn’t that be amazing? They just all started parading in?”
Brunson admitted, “That’d be crazy.”
