NextImg:Quinnen Williams isn’t hiding his displeasure with Jets contract talks

Quinnen Williams is putting distance between himself and the Jets.

Despite being under contract with the Jets for this season, Williams changed his Twitter bio to identify himself as a “Defensive Tackle for ……………….”

It doesn’t take much reading between the lines to see that Williams is unhappy with the state of negotiations on his contract extension, especially when Williams’ last retweet highlights the details of the four-year, $90 million ($60 million guaranteed) extension fellow defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence signed with the Giants.

Removing a team name from a Twitter bio is a common tactic that athletes use to send a message when they feel disrespected by the team.

It sometimes precedes a trade request.

An extension between Williams and the Jets should be relatively painless given three comparable stud defensive tackles have reached extensions this offseason.

Daron Payne (Commanders), Jeffery Simmons (Titans) and Lawrence all signed four-year deals worth between $21.8 million and $23.5 million per year with between $59-$60 million guaranteed.

Williams has not been participating in the Jets’ voluntary offseason program — which he vowed would be the case in January without a new contract — as he awaits the birth of a child with his wife.
