Following a record-breaking exclusive run at IMAX theaters, Queen Rock Montreal is coming to Disney+ — and it won’t lose any of the enhancements made when the concert film made the jump to IMAX in January.
Queen Rock Montreal, which premiered on Disney+ today (May 15), is the first concert film available to stream with IMAX Enhanced sound powered by DTS.
The film, which was captured over the course of two nights in November 1981 is a full, uncut Queen concert featuring Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon at their best. The setlist includes all of the hits Queen is known for, including “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
Prior to the IMAX release of Queen Rock Montreal, the distributor worked with Brian May and Roger Taylor on the restoration. We got a chance to experience it in IMAX theaters, and the quality blew us away; getting to experience that audio again at home will be such a treat for first time viewers and repeat-watchers alike.
Queen Rock Montreal will be streaming exclusively on Disney+.
Disney+ costs $7.99/month with ads or $13.99/month to stream ad-free, but we recommend signing up for one of the four Disney Bundles instead.
The Disney Bundle starts at $9.99/month for Hulu and Disney+ both with ads and goes up to $24.99/month for ad-free Hulu, ad-free Disney+, and a standard subscription to ESPN+.
While the technology is still rolling out, consumers with the following products will be able to enjoy IMAX enhanced audio first: select DTS:X enabled Android/Google TV devices from Sony, Hisense, Phillips, Sharp, Xiaomi, and others, plus owners of certified DTS:X enabled AV receivers from Denon, Marantz, and JBL.
In addition to Queen Rock Montreal, 18 Marvel Cinematic Universe titles are now streaming on Disney+ with IMAX-enhanced sound.
The entire Marvel Cinematic Universe is streaming on Disney+ ($8+/month). Learn more here.
