The York Tiara lives on.
Princess Beatrice wowed royal watchers at Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa Al Hussein’s wedding reception in Amman, Jordan yesterday, wearing a meaningful tiara that many thought would never be seen again.
The 34-year-old royal — who joined Kate Middleton, 41 and Prince William, 40, at the royal wedding — wore the glittering diamond tiara that her mother, Sarah Ferguson, wore for her 1986 nuptials to Prince Andrew for last night’s celebration.
According to royal jewelry expert Lauren Kiehna of The Court Jeweller, the diamond headpiece with floral and leaf designs was a custom Garrard creation for the wedding, given as a gift by Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip to their future-daughter-in-law.
“It’s always so exciting to see a long-hidden tiara come back into the spotlight again,” Kiehna tells Page Six Style. “Princess Beatrice wore the tiara beautifully in Jordan.”
Beatrice wore her mother’s heirloom — which hasn’t been seen since Ferguson wore it to a 2001 event — with a champagne-colored Reem Acra gown featuring dramatic gold beading on the bodice.
Last night marked the second time the mom of one has been seen in a tiara, with the first being her secret 2020 wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 39.
After her sister, Princess Eugenie, 33, wore a diamond-and-emerald tiara for her 2018 nuptials and Beatrice chose to wear Queen Elizabeth’s Fringe Tiara for her wedding day, it was widely assumed that no one would wear the York headpiece in public again.
The tiara’s reappearance stunned many royal fans, like one who commented, “Blimey, that’s a turn up for the books,” on The Court Jeweller’s Twitter post.
“Here I had convinced myself we would never see it again and that it had been quietly sold since neither Beatrice or Eugenie wore it for their weddings,” another follower wrote. Glad I was wrong!”

Earlier in the day, Beatrice wore a glittering pale blue Needle & Thread dress ($1,029) while paying another sartorial tribute to her mom.
She matched the black ribbon at her waist with a black hairbow similar to the 1980s hair accessories Ferguson was known for as a royal.
We’re crossing our fingers for more Beatrice tiara moments after this stunning wedding.
