An unshaven Prince William stepped out for his first public appearance since Kate Middleton revealed she had completed her cancer treatment.
The Prince of Wales, 42, greeted fans while rocking his new beard with a big smile on his face outside of the Swiss Valley Primary School in Llanelli, Wales, on Tuesday.
“It’s good news, but there is still a long way to go,” he told one person of his wife’s prognosis.
Several royal watchers sent along their well-wishes during the visit, expressing to William how happy they were to hear that the Princess of Wales’ health was on the up and up.
One fan even handed the prince a card with an envelope addressed to “Our Beautiful Princess of Wales.”
William looked dapper in a blue suit, a button-down shirt and a maroon tie during the lively meet-and-greet.
Just hours before, Middleton, also 42, released a video message on social media announcing that she had completed chemotherapy.
“The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family,” she said in a statement Monday.
“Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”
The princess shared that her battle with cancer has been “complex, scary and unpredictable” and that she will do her best to “stay cancer free.”
“Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” she added.
Middleton also revealed that she will return to conducting in-person royal duties in the coming months.

“William and I are so grateful for the support we have received and have drawn great strength from all those who are helping us at this time,” she said. “Everyone’s kindness, empathy and compassion has been truly humbling.”
Middleton revealed she was diagnosed with cancer in March after her absence from several royal events spurred speculation about her health and well-being.
She had undergone abdominal surgery in January when doctors discovered the cancer and advised her to undergo chemotherapy. Middleton did not, however, reveal what kind of cancer she had and called the diagnosis “a huge shock.”
Middleton continued her royal duties from home as she fought the disease.
She reappeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony alongside her family and King Charles III, who is also battling cancer, during the Trooping the Colour celebration in June.
A month later, she surprised attendees when she showed up at the 2024 Wimbledon tennis championships.
