Another pop culture icon is getting the LEGO treatment.
Following in the footsteps of the LEGO Atari 2600 and the LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System, the brand announced a new LEGO Game Boy available for preorder now ahead of an October 1 release date.
The LEGO Game Boy is a near 1:1 replica of Nintendo’s iconic handheld gaming device, designed with intricate details like a working control pad, A and B, select, and start buttons, and contrast and volume dials that actually spin.
In addition to the handheld device itelf, the set includes two brick-built Game Paks: “The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening” and “Super Mario Land” that can be inserted into the game slot, and three interchangeable lenticular screens with the Nintendo logo or game start screens.
You’ll also be able to build display stands for the Game Paks and the handheld device. Of course, all LEGO sets also include a booklet of detailed step-by-step instructions, making this set perfect for both LEGO enthusiasts and newcomers who love Nintendo. LEGO recommends the 421-piece set for ages 18 and up.
As noted above, the LEGO Game Boy will ship on or around October 1; preorders are currently available on Amazon and LEGO.
