NYPD investigators are hoping that new footage of the suspected gunman in Sunday’s cold-blooded killing inside a Harlem smoke shop will lead to his arrest.
Surveillance images released by cops Monday show a man wearing a backwards black baseball hat and a black jacket with a red and white design on the front and patches on the shoulder inside the smoke shop at 304 Lenox Ave. Sunday night.
The person of interest in the newly released 21-second recording is seen talking to someone while standing next to a row of refrigerators while holding some items in his hands. There is no sound in the video.
A separate video from inside the store that was previously obtained by The Post showed the same man dressed in all black and wearing white sneakers casually shooting a 36-year-old customer in the head.
Police said the deadly encounter took place around 7:50 p.m. and was preceded by an argument between the gunman in black and the victim.
The unnamed man suffered gunshot wounds to the head and back, and was taken to NYC NYC Health and Hospitals/Harlem, where he was pronounced dead.
In the chilling footage, the shooter and the victim are seen having words for several seconds in front of a group of men.
The victim then turns to leave, but as he is heading for the exit, the suspect pulls a gun out of his pocket and blasts the victim in the head.
The victim collapses to the floor, but is still moving and appears to try to get up, before the calm attacker shoots him in the back in cold blood, as seen in the recording.
The final seconds of that video show the shooter walking out of the store. Police said he then fled on foot northbound on Lenox Avenue toward West 126th Street.
Police are now asking for members of the public to contact them if they know the whereabouts of the caught-on-camera gunman.
As of early Monday, no arrests have been made in the killing, and neither the suspect nor victim has been named.
There was no immediate word on what may have motivated the suspect to commit the harrowing public attack.
