The upscale home of slain Michigan neurosurgeon Devon Hoover was broken into over the weekend, according to police — just a day before the beloved doctor was laid to rest.

The unknown suspect broke into the Detroit mansion — which sits in the Boston-Edison Historic District — sometime between Saturday evening and Sunday morning, the Detroit Free Press reported.

No one was home, police said, and it is not clear if the suspect stole anything.

Authorities refused to say if the break-in at the $1.2 million house was connected to Hoover’s murder.

Police found Hoover, 53, shot dead in the upscale Detroit neighborhood during a welfare check on April 23. His corpse had been wrapped in a sheet and stuffed in an attic crawl space.

Authorities announced Friday that a person of interest in the grisly slaying was placed in custody on unrelated charges.

City Police Chief James White did not identify the suspect and wouldn’t detail the relationship between the suspect and the surgeon, except to say that they knew each other.

“We’re confident this person has information about what transpired,” White said, according to the Free Press.

Authorities previously said they thought the killing was the result of a domestic dispute.

Hoover’s relatives in Indiana had called the Detroit Police after the neurosurgeon didn’t show up at an event and didn’t answer their calls and texts.

Hoover’s abandoned car was later found on the city’s west side.

Hoover was a popular doctor and respected neck and back specialist at Ascension Health at St. John Hospital.

Patients remembered him as a fantastic surgeon and a warm man with a tremendous bedside manner.

Detroit police have said they have several theories about how and why Hoover died.

The longtime doctor’s funeral was held Sunday at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit.
