Recordings from an online Playstation 4 basketball game helped solve the 2019 murder of a Michigan man who was gunned down in his apartment.

Darel King was caught on mic threatening and killing Daushawn Lamarr Guthridge, 41, as well as shooting his girlfriend who used her body to protect a child inside a Flint apartment, according to court papers.

The incident occurred on July 10, 2019, at the same time Guthridge was playing online with an anonymous person, who submitted the recording to police a day after the killing.

In the tape, King, who was charged on Monday, can be heard yelling at Guthridge and demanding money and packages of marijuana, referred to as bows.

“Don’t move. Talk quick,” King can be heard yelling.

“Where the f–king money at? You got 30 seconds. Think I’m playing? If I don’t find no money in 20 seconds bro, if I don’t find no f–king bows and no money in 20 seconds bro, I’m sorry…”

Several voices can be heard arguing until gunfire rings out, 12 shots total, according to the court documents.

The recordings arrived to police complete with an explanation of what was going on when his game with Guthridge was interrupted by the gunman.

“I was on the Playstation 4 playing with the 41 year old man that died at the scene in the 1600 block of Kent Street near Seymour Avenue,” the tipster explained. “He was playing the game with several people in a party chat on the game system.”

“I have a short clip that proves that I just want justice to be served… We heard all the arguments, and further gun shots. I hope this video helps.”

The murder was captured on a recording of the Playstation 4 basketball game Guthridge was playing.

The woman who was also shot, who has only been identified as “Victim 2,” confirmed that the voice in the recording was King’s.

King had been arrested in October 2020 in connection to the shooting, but the charges were dismissed in May 2021. He was arrested five months later in Nevada over an unrelated federal case.

King now faces armed robbery and murder charges in connection to the 2019 killing. The case is being pursued by the US Attorney’s Office because a robbery involving drugs falls under federal statutes governing violent actions in the context of interstate commerce, officials said.

King is being held without bail and is due to appear in court on June 5. A defense lawyer could not be immediately reached for comment.
