NextImg:Pilot reveals secret trick to determine if the turbulence on your flight is actually dangerous

Sydney pilot and reality TV star Jimmy Nicholson experienced some of the worst turbulence he’s ever had on a flight — but revealed why there was “nothing to worry about.”

Jimmy was heading to Barcelona for his honeymoon after he tied the knot to fellow Bachelor contestant Holly Kingston earlier this month.

The pair were seated at the back of the Airbus when it ran into some extreme turbulence.

Jimmy recorded just how full-on it was with his now-viral TikTok showing the aircraft jolting from side to side.

“Some of the worst turbulence I’ve ever felt,” Jimmy said in the clip at the peak of the turbulence.

“So it’s a short flight. It’s not comfortable.

“We are at the back of the plane, so it’s worse here. It could be widespread storms so they (pilots) just have to pick their path of least resistance and go through it.”

Jimmy turned his phone around which showed some passengers squealing as their heads could be seen bobbing up and down.

In his clip, which has been viewed 8 million times, Jimmy reminded his terrified wife that it was “completely normal.”

“[There] is nothing to worry about,” he told Holly as she stared at him with a petrified look on her face.

“Planes are built to withstand very, very way worse. It’s not fun, evidently, but completely fine.”

During the flight, Jimmy reassured viewers that when turbulence hits, the “plane isn’t going to fall out of the sky.”

He also suggested trying the “water bottle trick” where he flipped a water bottle upside down, to show that the water wasn’t “moving much,” meaning it would’ve felt worse for passengers than the reality of the situation.

“Look outside [the] window,” he recommended to those who are anxious flyers.

Once the turbulence ended, everyone could be seen with relief.

“This one deserves a clap,” Jimmy said in the clip.

Despite Jimmy’s reassurance, TikTok users said they would still be in “panic mode.”

“You’re so calm and inside I’d be screaming,” one person responded.

“This is the person you hope to sit by,” another joked.

Jimmy said that as a pilot, questions surrounding turbulence are something he always gets asked — and filmed an entire video about it.

In a separate clip, he said most passengers probably think pilots are freaking out — but that’s definitely not the case.

“What do we do as pilots is we slow the aircraft down and we either climb or descend or we sit about a little bit,” he said.

“Pilots up the front are very, very chilled. All we are caring about is our coffee being spilled.”
