The Phillies likely didn’t have this in mind with their $1 hot dog promotion on Tuesday night.

As the Miami Marlins trounced the Phillies at home, 8-4, Philadelphia fans turned their attention away from the field and toward each other, tossing garbage into the stands at Citizens Bank Park.

Though some Twitter users alleged the Franks were flying, it appeared hot dog wrappers were on the move, too.

As Tuesday’s game got underway, footage from inside the stadium popped up online and featured endless lines of fans waiting for their $1 dogs.

“I’ve never seen so many people in line for a hot dog before… this dollar dog night had to top any the stadium has ever had,” one Twitter user remarked.

Another user said, “Dollar dog night, where people wait in line all night for a cheap hot dog and miss the entire game.

There was also an ongoing tally of hot dogs sold, with Phillies Nation reporting that as of 9 p.m. Tuesday, more than 58,000 had been purchased.

The loss dropped the reigning National League champs to 4-7 on the season.

The Phillies will close out their three-game series against the Marlins on Wednesday before traveling to Cincinnati to face the Reds (4-6) on Thursday.
