There could be a new name coming to the ManningCast this season, if a cryptic post on social media is to be believed.
Peyton Manning, along with Omaha Productions posted a photo of the Hall of Fame quarterback sitting in a chair on the ManningCast set reading through a binder.
On the front, emblazoned in big lettering is written “THIRD HOST AUDITIONS” with it also marked “CONFIDENTIAL.”
The post on X, formerly Twitter, captioned the photo with the bulging eyes emoji.
On Instagram, Manning wrote, “trying something new for the ManningCast this year.”
Naturally that has gotten people wondering whether a third host could be joining the mix for the third season of the ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” alternative broadcast.
Eli Manning fanned the flames in a post of his own X account.
“No one consulted me on this host idea or the amount of thigh Peyton is showing in this picture,” Eli jokingly wrote.
Officially known as “Monday Night Football with Payton and Eli:, the alternative to the traditional broadcast has been a big hit with NFL fans.
It started in 2021 and there is one more year left on the deal between ESPN and Omaha Productions.
During an interview on the “Pat McAfee Show” earlier this year, Eli indicated that there weren’t many changes in the works for this year’s ManningCast.
“We’ve stayed pretty true to what the original plan was,” Manning told McAfee. “We wanted to make it feel like what it’s like to sit on the couch with Peyton and I and watch a football game. That’s still the idea. We’re gonna talk some Xs and Os, we’re gonna make fun of each other, and every now and then, Pat McAfee pops in in the living room and we start talking with him or we’re talking with Snoop Dogg.”
The first “Monday Night Football” dame takes place on Sept. 11 when the Jets host the Buffalo Bills at MetLife Stadium.
