Pete Davidson is reportedly seeking treatment for borderline personality disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), according to Page Six. Sources close to the Saturday Night Live alum — who has been to rehab twice before — said the beloved comedian is taking a “well-deserved break.”
The outlet reported that Davidson checked himself into the same Pennsylvania facility his friend and fellow comedian John Mulaney went to for drug and alcohol issues in 2020.
“Pete regularly goes to rehab for ‘tune ups’ and to take a mental break, so that’s what’s happening,” one friend said, per Page Six.
Another source close to the star said he’s “taking a well-deserved break so he can focus on himself and learn to better deal with his PTSD issues.”
They added, “Anyone who knows Pete knows that he will always step up and get help when he knows he needs it. He has a lot of people in his corner who love him and support him, and are proud of him.”
Davidson’s rehab stint comes weeks after he was forced to apologize to PETA for leaving a scathing voicemail in which he told the animal rights organization to “suck my dick” after he was criticized for purchasing a dog from a pet store.

The King of Staten Island star was also charged with one count of reckless driving after crashing his car into a Beverly Hills home earlier this month. While it’s unclear how Davidson lost control of the car, cops didn’t believe drugs or alcohol played a part in the situation at the time, according to TMZ.
Moreover, the actor spent time in rehab in both 2017 and 2019 — and in 2018, NYPD did a wellness check after he was talking about suicide online. He previously told Charlamagne Tha God that he’s “always depressed” and has to “constantly” bring himself out of it.
Earlier this year, Davidson revealed that he was in trauma therapy while speaking to Jon Bernthal on his Real Ones podcast.
“I also have BPD and a little PTSD mix which is a borderline personality disorder, and so the definition of that is fear of abandonment,” he said, referencing the death of his father, a firefighter who died in 9/11. “So, you know, Dad says he’s gonna come and pick you up, but he doesn’t for life. I’m just like, ‘I don’t believe anyone.'”
While Davidson — whose Peacock series Bupkis was recently renewed for a second season — is currently getting the help he needs, a source told People that he “should be getting out pretty soon.”
